Well, that’s an important part of it, but there’s obviously a lot more.
There are administrative activities, like creating documents and scheduling appointments. You’ll accompany clients to inspections and other meetings. And you’ll attend office meetings to share your listings and find out about new homes on the market.
Qualifying buyers is a key skill. That means running a credit check and determining job status – how much they make, and how long they’ve been at their job. This will tell you the appropriate price range to target. As you determine the areas they want to live in, you’ll be able to narrow down their options quickly.
Figuring out how to market the properties that you’re selling is another important activity. From staging the house for maximum attractiveness, to taking photos that showcase its best features, it’s your job to make the property irresistible.
And one of the core activities is networking. Everyone you know is going to move to a new apartment or house at some point, so the more people you know, the bigger your income potential. But it takes more than simply meeting people – you’ll need to cultivate those relationships, so that you’re in the forefront of their mind when the time comes for them to make a move.
Since you’re working strictly on commission, you’ll need to manage your time properly. The fact that every day is different, and it’s really up to you to decide your own schedule, makes being a Real Estate Broker an ideal career for people looking for independence and flexibility.
